This one, however, came out of nowhere.

The singer, brazilian Marisa Monte, is very well known to me for well over a decade. The album, Universo ao Meu Redor, from 2006, is a return to her samba roots, but according to her, “focused more on the atmosphere surrounding samba than on samba itself, on its most frequent subjects- love, nature, music itself, the human condition, the singing of the birds, our back yards, and lives lived together through art… ”

Yesterday I got in the car and started to search for a CD to listen to, because the road I’d be taking had no decent radio reception. Just like that, this one fell out of the pack. Being a firm believer in serendipity, I looked no further and popped the CD in the player. I leave you with a song which was on my mind a lot, a little over a year ago. It talks about love, change, unpredictability, and today it tells me to look forward, not back. And I say thank you in return.

Thanks for your time.
